The design concept is to create a cohousing project based on a sharing community. This idea was inspired by the Israeli "kibbutz". The kibbutz is a unique cooperative settlement based on the values of equality between human beings and idealistic & economic cooperation. It was created at the beginning of the twentieth century by immigrants who came from Europe and settled in the wilderness. The kibbutz answered the need for protection and development in many areas simultaneously.

The name "kibbutz" derives from the word "group". The kibbutz settlements vary in different communal functions: communal dining room, children's house, shared community and educational centers and communal means of production like vertical farming.

Therefore, the idea of a collective building concerning the co-house focuses on the "US". This project proposes a residential solution to population growth and congestion in the city.

The building will be designed in a way that integrates residential units combined with communal and shared spaces where the top floor will be an area where tenants can use whenever they want during the year for relaxation, shade and enjoyment of the sight of the city. This concept can be established as a neighborhood that can unite and enrich the communities within the city.

Team Israel will also prioritize the use of solely environmental and friendly materials throughout the house, in everything from the frame structure to the furniture, which will be provided by Israeli companies specializing in renewable energy technologies. The incorporation of Israeli technologies in the home will allow the project to be showcase the Israeli sustainable energy industry throughout the competition.

For the competition, the team will plan and build one apartment for a young couple in one store, and parts from shared spaces on the other one. The choice for public spaces will be determined by contest needs, like laundry room for example, and from personal and designed decision making.

As part of a system component, the green wall will combine between the two floors at the house that is designed for the competition as well.
