Today, most of the population of the world lives in the cities. Therefore we believe that urban society and urban living can live side by side with urban agriculture which contributes to the single person and to the environment.

 

One of the meanings of urban agriculture is food growth in different spots within the urban space- rooftops, indoor, yards, public buildings, educational institutes, parks, side roads and areas around the city.

 

Urbanization- urban agriculture provides a platform for renewal and urban awakening that enables functions mixture, joined communities, entrepreneurship and innovation. You might say it even gives an urban strength.

 

Economics- the urban agriculture develop local economy which is based on direct marketing and fair trade. Using ''dead'' areas such as rooftops and empty lots, raise the value of assets, develop truism, reduce sustenance costs and rehabilitate neighborhoods.

 

Employment- urban agriculture gives employment opportunities for all parties of the social spectrum and encourages an active lifestyle which connects the individual back to nature.

 

Environment- the urban agriculture contributes for reducing human ecological footprint, improves buildings thermic isolation, reduce urban heat islands effect, reduce storage and cooling of agricultural products and contributes in coping with climate changes.

On the top of it, this kind of agriculture reduces pressure on conventional farmlands, prevents damages in open lands, enriches biological varied, and improves air quality and balance the ecological system of food production and its consumption.

 

Society- joining population for food growth promotes education for active lifestyle and changes consumers' behavior regards to reduce food waste. The urban agriculture gives the basic right to the individual for accessible and versatile food.

 

Public health- the urban agriculture makes fresh food accessible and by that encourages higher consuming and improves the public health. It also gives nutrition safety and improves mental health.

 

Involvement and relevance- the urban agriculture redefines the relevance of the individual to society and it shows how the individual can sustain the public.
